Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant will focus on technical aspects of accounting, financial reporting and compliance. This position requires both a detailed and strategic thinker with strong analytical abilities. A fundamental accounting skill set, discretion in overseeing financial operations and strong facility with reporting are critical for this role. This is an opportunity for an experienced self-starter looking to grow into and be responsible for the full-cycle accounting function. The ideal candidate is focused on accuracy and completeness, has a strong understanding of accounting principles and is driven by an overall commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
    • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial data and analyses to facilitate effective decision-making
  • Account Reconciliation:
    • Perform bank and revenue reconciliations and drive the management and analysis of large data sets
    • Oversee accounts payable (bill payments/accruals) and accounts receivable (invoice tracking and preparation/application of payments/collections), ensuring accuracy and timeliness across both functions
    • Maintain amortization schedules
  • General Ledger Management:
    • Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions and daily operating expenses are recorded accurately
    • Prepare adjusting journal entries and lead all month-end closing processes
  • Tax Compliance:
    • Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations
    • Stay current on tax laws and regulations affecting the organization
  • Audit Support:
    • Prepare necessary documentation for internal and external audits and assist auditors as needed
    • Implement recommendations from audit findings to improve financial processes
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes and improve efficiency within the Finance team
    • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to implement best practices and streamline workflows

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; currently holds CPA designation or is on track to complete CPA licensing requirements
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in accounting or a related role
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and practices
  • Demonstrated proficiency using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Experience working with general ledger systems, AR/AP systems and data visualization tools
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: 75-100K (DOE)
