Position Overview:

Aeropay is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive and collaborative Payment Operations Specialist to join our growing team. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity, reliability and efficiency of our account-to-account (or pay-by-bank) payments network. You will play a crucial role in monitoring payment activity, managing escalations, coordinating with merchants and resolving complex payment and collections issues. This is a highly cross-functional role that involves payments, customer support, compliance, fraud mitigation and client success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own Issue Resolution:
    • Take end-to-end ownership of escalated payment issues and customer support cases, working with internal teams and external partners to resolve them quickly and accurately
  • Support Escalated Cases:
    • Handle high-priority support tickets involving payment failures, bank connection issues and user account discrepancies
    • Process requests and early warning alerts to proactively manage risk and uphold system integrity
  • Coordinate with Merchants:
    • Investigate and resolve individual payment disputes, returns and exceptions in coordination with merchant partners to ensure accurate and fair outcomes
    • Monitor overall activity across the Aeropay payments network to proactively detect anomalies, ensure transaction health and mitigate risk
  • Perform Collections Activities:
    • Support collections workflows, including outreach to users with failed payments, monitoring retry logic and applying internal decision-making frameworks
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Communicate clearly and effectively with cross-functional stakeholders—including Product, Risk & Compliance, Fraud, Customer Experience, Finance and executive leadership—to ensure alignment and transparency across operations
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Perform other related duties as needed to support the department’s mission and drive operational excellence at Aeropay

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
  • Experience in payment operations, reconciliation, payment processing or a similar role
  • Knowledge of payment systems, software, APIs, SDKs, etc.
  • Familiarity with payment reconciliation processes, compliance requirements and risk management strategies
  • Skilled in analyzing and interpreting complex payment data
  • Prior experience processing ACH transactions
  • Precision in data entry and recordkeeping
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $75 - $90K base salary
